This post holds a special place in my heart because it features a person I hold near & dear… my best sister/best friend/best person, Kate.

Nearly two years ago Kate and I went on a little day venture to the great District of Columbia. We we wandering along the monuments when she declared, “I think I want to get engaged in D.C.” At that time, Doug wasn’t in the picture. It was just a wishful statement, a general expression of how much she loved that history-rich place.

But her wish was made tangible Saturday when Doug asked her to be his wife (can’t believe I just typed that!!!) in her favorite metropolis.

I was honored to have a front row (front step?) seat to this truly “monumental” moment.

Kate kept saying, “I don’t know what to say! I don’t know what to say!” Well, here are a few of my favorite photos from the day that say what words can’t.
